Use Text Replacements to Book up to 70% of Your Fitness Leads

Once your fitness studio learns how to generate massive amounts of leads, it’s time to make sure you have a solid sales strategy in place. Without a good follow-up process, your leads are much less likely to convert into full-time, paying members. And if you don’t follow up with them right away, you’re even less likely to convert them.

Text messaging has a major advantage over phone calls and email because of its insane 96% open rate (for comparison, emails only have a 20% open rate). That great response is true for the fitness industry too — based on a survey we did with fitness studios, owners who used text messages to follow up with their leads booked about 70% to come in for their first workout, and about 65% of those people showed up for their appointments. So once you have permission to text your leads, it’s a strategy that saves a ton of time and makes your follow-up process so much more efficient.

When text messaging your leads, remember that this could be the first actual contact someone has with your fitness studio. Wow them right from the start. Keep it short and to the point — the last thing you want is for someone to feel like they’re being spammed. Here’s a sample script:

Hi [Contact Name]! My name is [Your Name]. Thanks for filling out a free week pass to [Company Name]! What day and time is best for you to come in for your 1st workout?

If you generate a heavy amount of leads through your marketing campaign, you could end up texting that message anywhere from 10 – 15 times a day.

Fortunately, there’s an awesome solution to send scripted text messages super easily. It’s called text replacement. Think of it as autocorrect’s more sophisticated cousin who does exactly what you tell it to. Here’s how to set it up for both iOS and Android:

For iOS

Step 1: Open the settings on your iPhone or iPad

Step 2: Choose General, then Keyboard, then Text Replacement.

Step 3: Tap the plus sign to add a new text replacement and follow the steps above.

To send a message using your text replacement, type your shortcut word and hit space. Your script will auto-populate.

For Android

Step 1: Open the settings on your Android device.

Step 2: Choose Language & input, then Personal dictionary.

Step 3: Tap the plus sign to add a new text replacement.

Android devices have a much shorter character limit for the phrase than iOS devices, so shorten the script significantly. Make it a quick sentence like in the example above.

To send a message using your new replacement, type your shortcut word. Your replacement phrase will pop up in the suggestions box. Choose the replacement phrase and send your message.Text replacements take only a minute or two each to set up, and they come in super handy when you have 30 or more new leads to contact in 1 day.
