As another year draws to a close, we’ve taken time to look back on 2016 and savor some of the great things that happened for both Loud Rumor and our customers. From carving out a space for ourselves in the fitness industry to finding new ways to present content, it’s been an incredible year. And you’ve been a huge part of that! Let’s take a look:
1. We found our niche
At this time last year, we still worked with small businesses in any industry. But we noticed that we got the best results for group fitness studios. So in January 2016 we decided to niche into the fitness industry.
Here’s the story of the campaign that sealed the deal for us:
In the last year, the business has grown by leaps and bounds, all thanks to picking one area that we’re both extremely passionate about and get unbeatable results in. We were able to advertise for our customers because we really understood the industry, and we even had the freedom to start adding more tools to help our customers grow their business and get more paying members (take a look at the results we’re talking about here).
2. We launched The GSD Show
With niching into the fitness industry came a new goal: We want to be the #1 resource for fitness studio and independent gym owners. It’s crucial for fitness business owners to have an outlet where they can learn how to close their leads, retain more members, and make sh*t happen.
So with that in mind, we launched The GSD Show — a podcast and video series all about fitness business — in May 2016. And at 35 episodes deep, we’ve hosted some serious players including Felicia Romero, Orangetheory, Re Perez, Mark Lack, Infusionsoft … We even snagged Rick Stollmeyer, the CEO of MINDBODY, for an episode!
We started to build a new family with our GSD Show audience. Our customers — and even strangers! — started to talk about the difference these episodes and sales strategies had on growing their business. And they’re the ones who said they never miss an episode. Join our GSD Show family, too!
3. We attended a TON of conferences
If you haven’t caught on by now, continued education is something we’re really big on here at Loud Rumor. We know that if we want to provide our customers with the best services and products possible, we have to constantly learn how to do our jobs better.
We went to 6 conferences in 2016 including IDEA world, Thrive, BOLD, and more. Check out the video we made of our experience at IDEAworld:
4. We launched a learning resource for our customers
As we signed on more and more fitness studios, we started to notice that some of them had the same questions. So we did some digging and found a way to easily answer all of these challenges for everyone at once. We launched our customer learning center in September, and it’s been a huge help during the sign-on process.
5. We were featured a TON of places …
Between guest blogs and podcast appearances, our marketing team stayed busy getting Loud Rumor out there, including:
- Business Rockstars
- Fitness Business Podcast
- Fitness Revolution
- Design Pickle
- Resist Average Academy
- Gym Owner Monthly (with a recurring column)
- And more!
6. And we featured a ton of influencers on our site.
With guest bloggers like Scott Keppel, PJ Newton, and Ryan Ketchum, and podcast guests like Felicia Romero, Tommy Baker, Mark Lack, Rick Stollmeyer, Vito LaFata, Liberty Harper, and more on The GSD Show, Loud Rumor had a great year of growing our network.
7. We went live on Facebook … a LOT!
2016 was the year Facebook Live took over. And if you’ve seen any of the live videos we’ve done over the past several months, you know we’ve embraced it wholeheartedly. In fact, between the Loud Rumor Facebook page, the GSD Show page, and my personal page, we’ve gone live on Facebook over 70 times just since the beginning of September!
In fact, we love Facebook Live so much that we devoted an entire episode of The GSD Show to it. This episode explains how to start using live video to market your fitness business:
8. We partnered with MINDBODY
After filming 2 episodes of The GSD Show with MINDBODY (Episode 015 with their VP of Marketing, and Episode 027 with their CEO), we decided to take that business relationship to the next level. As of this month, we’ve officially partnered with them to produce some more awesome content in the coming months … but we can’t give away too much yet!
9. We won #1 best micro-sized place to work in Arizona
We’re incredibly thankful for the team we have, and the growth we’ve done this year. Thank you, Phoenix Business Journal, for this amazing award!
Looking ahead to 2017
2016 was filled with a lot of great things for Loud Rumor and our customers. But we can’t help but think that 2017 will be even better. Here’s why:
Fit FLAVER 2.0
We’re rolling out improvements to our Fit FLAVER program. Some of our customers have already been moved over to the new program, and by 2017 each of the studios we work with will have access to a bunch of new features that Fit FLAVER 2.0 includes.
Fitness Marketing School
We’re launching a brand new paid education system where we show you exactly what we do, and how we do it, step by step. The Fitness Marketing School is set to open in the coming months, so keep an eye out.
Speaking At Conferences
I’m lined up to speak at IDEA World in Las Vegas, July 19 – 23. I’ll be covering different ways to grow and scale your fitness business, all while improving your processes and efficiency. I’ll also be speaking at SCW Mania in California, March 24th!
A LOT more video!
We’re ramping up our video production to a whole new level! My goal is to go live on Facebook every single day, and we’re also putting out a ton more videos on social media and on our site. Our videographer Sam will be sooo busy.
Thank you for being such a huge part of our 2016. We can genuinely say this year has transformed our company and team … and we can’t wait for what’s to come!
